State of the Cypress Creek Community

HOUSTON–As the media has reported over the years, a lot has been done in the community to improve the aesthetics, to carve out valuable parks and green spaces, to improve safety and security and improve the economic health of the area. The Houston Northwest Chamber is committed to getting the word out to the wider community so that we can experience pride in the area as well as pride in the fortitude of the citizens that work continuously on the state of the area. For this reason, the Chamber is hosting a special Town Hall session where updates will be provided and where citizens can provide input to community leaders regarding their priorities.

This Town Hall: State of the Cypress Creek Community will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Northwoods Presbyterian Church in the sanctuary. There is no charge to attend and all are welcome as space allows.

From 5:30-6:00 p.m., a special Meet & Greet will be hosted in the foyer with community leaders such as State Rep. Kevin Roberts, State Rep. Valoree Swanson, Pct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle, Constable Mark Herman. Dr. Bret Champion of Klein ISD and Dr. Rodney Watson of Spring ISD. Additionally, Mr. Tim Puthoff, CEO of Houston Northwest Medical Center and Mr. Keith Barber CEO of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Sr. VP of the Methodist System as well as many Chamber Board members will be available during the Meet & Greet to visit with participants.

At 6:00 p.m., the community forum will begin with an overview of the Grow Northwest Initiative and updates from community leaders on three key priorities: Safety & Security, Economic Development and Community Image & Branding. Participants will then have the opportunity to provide input back to the organizers on their perspectives for improving the area.

“We anticipate that if this session proves valuable for all involved, we will host such an event at least annually”, says Chamber president Barbara Thomason.

Utility district boards, HOA boards, civic associations, business representatives and citizens are specifically invited to participate.

“Given our area’s important relationships with utility districts, we hope they will take this opportunity to hear what is happening on a more regional basis and learn how their district can benefit,” adds Bobby Lieb, director of community and economic development for the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce and its Grow Northwest Initiatives.
