State of the Cypress Creek Community:
A Call For Participation In The Town Hall

HOUSTON—Utility district boards, HOA boards, civic associations, business representatives and citizens are invited to participate in the “Town Hall: State of the Cypress Creek Community” organized by the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce on September 7, 2017 at Northwoods Presbyterian Church in the sanctuary. This free event will feature community leaders providing updates on the state of the Cypress Creek community and give an opportunity for citizens to provide input regarding their priorities.

“It is important that everyone who is interested in the well-being of our community attends this meeting to share their vision”, said Barbara Thomason, president of the Chamber. “The Chamber is committed to building on the past success and explore new ways to build a stronger community”.

“Given our area’s close relationships with utility districts, we hope they will take this opportunity to hear what is happening on a more regional basis and learn how their district can benefit,” adds Bobby Lieb, director of community and economic development for the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce and its Grow Northwest Initiatives.

The Town Hall meeting will consist of several sessions. From 5:30-6:00 p.m., a special Meet & Greet will be hosted in the foyer with community leaders such as State Rep. Kevin Roberts, State Rep. Valoree Swanson, Pct 4 Commissioner R. Jack Cagle, Constable Mark Herman. Dr. Bret Champion of Klein ISD, Dr. Wanda Bamberg of Aldine ISD and Dr. Rodney Watson of Spring ISD. Additionally, Mr. Tim Puthoff, CEO of Houston Northwest Medical Center and Mr. Keith Barber, CEO of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Sr. VP of the Houston Methodist as well as many Chamber Board members will be available during the Meet and Greet to visit with participants. There will be community displays with updates on the Green Sides reforestation project by Barbara Schlattman, the Cypress Creek Greenway Project and Law Enforcement services available to the public.

At 6:00 p.m., the community forum will begin with an overview of the Grow Northwest Initiative and updates from community leaders on three key priorities: safety & security, economic development and community image and branding. A short demo video will be shown with comments from Mr. Larry Lipton, chair of both the Public Safety Forum and the Safety & Security Task Force and District 1 Capt. Jay Coons.

The progress of Economic Development will be covered by the community’s Economic Development Director, Bobby Lieb and his Advisory Council chairman, Tom Petrick. They will provide a clear picture of the economic health of our area.

This presentation will be followed by a presentation by Sucre Woodley of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Chamber Board member and Community Marketing chair. She will report on the monument signage project, bus stop art and other community branding strategies.

Participants will then provide input to the organizers on their perspectives for improving the area, using their smartphones. The collective responses will be visible on the wall screen in real time.

“We anticipate that if this session proves valuable for all involved, we will host such an event at least annually”, said Thomason.
